When I first obtained this book I made the assumption that it was a potty training book, and I wrote the review below. Someone pointed out that this book doesn't necesarily advertise itself as a potty training book. It's just a funny story. OK, that's fair. I can't change the stars but I do see the point. I suppose if I saw it just as a funny book for children I'd give it more stars.

This is not a book that actually teaches anything about using the potty. This is a funny book about a little boy who is repeatedly asked if he needs to go potty and says "no no no" but later has to "go" in the most inconvenient of circumstances. We've all been there, haven't we parents?

But this book doesn't train at all. If you want a funny book to share with a little boy who needs potty training, you may like this, but if you want a book that will help instruct a child, look elsewhere.

We love Robert Munsch books so much. We owned everyone and now we are sharing them with other kids. The best!
This was the first of the many Robert Munsch books I have given my grandchildren. It remains our favorite of all! Children love humor about things they think are a bit taboo (don't we all?) and this delightful and very true to life story never fails to bring gales of laughter to both the girls and me. My personal favorite line is from grandma. "I never had this problem with my children."
For adults it really brings back memories of those time consuming snowsuit dressing days, potty stops in the middle of nowhere, and so much more!
Potty training isn't a crisis and it certainly isn't a scandal. Robert Munsch shows us it's ok to lighten up and laugh about real life!
Thought I was getting a normal size book. Instead this mini book was smaller than my preachoolers hand. It’s already lost some where.
I thought this would be a humorous book but it's not. It doesn't have any sort of lesson or anything of substance. I was going to use this as a gift for my sister's baby shower, but it was so poorly written that I bought her a different book and donated "I have to go!".
This book is hilarious! My kids laugh hysterically every time we read it. One of the best books written by Munsch!!!
Great classic Munsch book! What little kid doesn’t like to hear a story about a boy who has to pee at inconvenient times? My grandsons laugh aloud every time I read it to them.
I guess I should have realized that $1.99 was too good to be true for a paperback book. Completely dismayed that this is a teeny tiny version of this book. I’m a kindergarten teacher trying to grow my classroom library and this is completely unusable to me. When I searched the title and found it I just ordered it, never ever thinking that it would be so small. I don’t think I’ll ever order a used book from 3rd party sellers again. At least I only paid 2 bucks. Extremely disappointed and ticked off, frankly.
I have adored so many books by this author and had so much fun reading them to my grandkids. But this was an insipid story about a boy who would say he didn't have to go, wait until his parents were in bed and then announce he did so they would run around etc and get him to the bathroom. Or he would say he didn't have to go, get his snowsuit on and then make a grand announcement that he now needed to pee. It could have been funny, standing on tiptoe to pee in the toilet, figuring out how to tell he needed to go, getting to pee like his dad. My kids and grandkids felt like it was an adventure to learn about using the toilet. This has none of that. Major disappointment.
